The Morrisby Organisation

The Morrisby Organisation is named after John Morrisby, an Australian who lectured in psychology at the University of Western Australia and worked as a psychologist for the Australian Army during World War II.

At this time he evolved the ideas behind the Differential Test Battery (DTB), the predecessor to the current Morrisby Profile.

The DTB was published in 1955 (in the UK) and broke new ground as the first set of tests which aimed to profile the structure of abilities as a pattern of strengths and weakness, linked to personality factors relevant to the world of work.

The DTB was re-engineered in 1991-2 and re-named the Morrisby Profile. The Morrisby Profile retains the DTB's theory and structure and has updated the content to reflect an awareness of the needs of minorities and focus on gender equality.

In 2005 the Morrisby Profile underwent an in-depth review and 'facelift' to ensure the tests were working as expected and update the look of the materials. Some anglicised words (lorry, brook, wood) were replaced with culturally neutral alternatives to suit the Australian market.

The Morrisby Organisation also operates the student website - www.fasttomato.com which is currently used by over 25% of UK secondary schools for subject selection, career guidance and careers information.

The Morrisby Organisation is currently managed and owned by Malcolm Morrisby, the son of the founder, who has developed the business into one of the major test providers in the UK.
