Morrisby Careers Questionnaire

The Morrisby Careers Questionnaire measures interest in 36 separate occupational areas, described under the broad headings of People, Information, and Things. See structure.

Not all interest questionnaires are the same. The Morrisby Careers Questionnaire has been designed to be straightforward to complete, taking approximately 30 minutes, but is a technically advanced instrument designed to reduce the impact of two significant issues with conventional interest questionnaire design.

1. Data is collected Normatively (1-4 scale) but scored and presented Ipsatively (compared against the individuals other preferences - not other people's scores). This allows an individuals relative interests to be measured without reference to others who have completed the questionnaire or forcing them into making decision they don't feel comfortable with - which is what it's all about. 

2. Interest scales are derived by a combination of Job Content scales, Job Context (Where, With whom and How you would like to work), and Job Level. This allows the questions to be comparatively opaque (reducing both gender bias and the ease with which individuals are able to lead the questionnaire). 

Finally a cross check is made between task information and endorsement of job titles.
